Six months ago the XtractPro Blog relaunched with a promise: two useful posts a week, every week. Sixty posts later, here is what resonated — and where the blog goes next.
The pieces departments used most
- The prep checklist: our advanced-inspection prep guide rode along with more gear batches than anything else we published.
- The budget tools: lifecycle cost and ROI math posts became board-meeting handouts — exactly the plan.
- The health series: interface exposure, EMS contamination, and heat-stress pieces drew the most crew-level readership.
- Gear 101: the component guides — hardware, bunker pants, hoods, gloves — turned into station training material.
What the first six months taught us
The questions departments actually ask are practical, not theoretical: what does it cost, how long does it take, what fails first, how do we make crews care. The compliance content matters — but it lands when it is attached to a checklist, a number, or a season. That is the editorial rule from here forward.
What’s coming this winter
October starts a compliance fundamentals arc — NFPA 1850 in plain English, cleaning tiers, inspection cadence — then budget-season tools through December, and the full-year inspection trends report at New Year’s. Two posts a week, Tuesdays and Thursdays, as promised.
