Before your department ships a single set of gear, ten questions separate a real ISP from a laundry with a logo — and any provider worth using will enjoy answering them.
The ten questions
- 1. Are you third-party verified, and current? Ask to see the status, not the plaque.
- 2. Which gear systems are your technicians trained on? Manufacturer-specific training, by name.
- 3. What repair materials do you stock? Manufacturer-matched fabrics, threads, and barrier materials — or “close enough”?
- 4. What testing can you perform in-house? Liner integrity testing on-site is a capability line worth drawing.
- 5. What documentation comes back with the gear? Per-garment findings, work performed, disposition — samples on request.
- 6. What is real turnaround, this season? An honest range beats a sales answer.
- 7. How do you handle condemnations? You want shown-the-defect transparency, not a mystery invoice.
- 8. Loaner coverage? How your crews stay protected mid-service.
- 9. Who actually touches the gear? In-house staff or subcontracted out the back door?
- 10. Can we tour the facility? The answer to this one is the answer to everything.
Why the tour question settles it
A provider proud of its floor shows the floor. You will see the wash process, meet the bench, and watch how gear is handled when nobody is selling anything. Ours is open — that is our answer to question ten.
